Two Fish Distribution is rolling out enhanced frozen Seafood Boil Bags at grocers nationwide.
The Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A.-based brand’s newest selection of seafood boil bags has been enhanced to include corn on the cob and whole red potatoes. The line is now available in three distinct frozen seafood bag selections featuring either shrimp, crab legs, or a shrimp and crab leg combination.
The company’s frozen retail business was born out of necessity, Two Fish CEO and Founder Yasmin Curtis told SeafoodSource in June 2021. Curtis operates Two Fish Crab Shack in Chicago and didn’t have a carryout business to fall back on when the COVID-19 pandemic set in, Curtis said. So she took to her kitchen to create an at-home solution for the eatery’s popular boiled seafood dishes.
“While we worked on figuring out the logistics of managing a carry-out business, I also got to work figuring out how we could offer a frozen package of our popular seafood boil so people could cook it at home,” Curtis said.
Curtis decided to combine two restaurant customer favorites — shrimp and crab legs — with Two Fish’s 3 The Chi-Way sauce in an easy-to-use, one-pound package, and dubbed the resulting offering “Two Fish To-Go.”
“At first, I thought we would just make this an offering at the restaurant, but that quickly changed after we attended a neighborhood Mariano’s marketplace event and quickly sold out of the frozen Two Fish To-Go packages,” Curtis said.
Customer demand for different seafood options as well as ease of use led to the new product formulation, Two Fish said in a press release.
“Since launching the Two Fish Seafood Boil bags, we’ve been gathering insights from our customer base to understand what they wanted to see next. It was clear some of our fans wanted the option to enjoy our seafood boil with shrimp only or with crab legs only,” Curtis said. “They also wanted us to bring them an entire meal in one convenient package, so our team got to work earlier this year to redesign and repackage our product offering to meet their needs.”
