Stavis Seafoods will become the anchor tenant for a new seafood facility scheduled to be built on the Boston Waterfront by September 2018, the company announced on 8 March at the Seafood Expo North America (SENA) event.
Massport approved the project, to be constructed on Parcel 5 of the Massport Marine Terminal in Boston, Mass. By way of the facility, Stavis will be able to bring all of its Boston-area locations under one roof – something the company has been hoping to do for more than five years now. The space to be occupied by Stavis is slated to measure out to 90,000 square feet; the company will use the facility for freezer, cooler processing and office space purposes.
The latest construction technologies will be used in the construction of the facility, making it the most technologically-advanced and environmentally-sound seafood processing facility in the state Massachusetts. The building represents an investment in excess of USD 40 million at the Port of Boston, setting it apart as one of the largest seafood-related private investments to exist in the Port’s history, noted Stavis. Construction on the facility will begin in fall of 2016.

Walsh. “It’s important that we support blue-collar industries in the City of Boston, and I’m pleased that Stavis and Massport are doing exactly that in the Raymond Flynn Marine Park.”

The building will come complete with a Cascade Refrigeration System, which involves hybrid a CO2/Ammonia refrigeration plant.

Stavis Seafoods currently is headquartered on the Boston Fish Pier.
