Pet treat company Snif-Snax, a Miami, Florida, U.S.A.-based company that creates pet treats using Scottish salmon as its leading ingredient, has received the 2023 Natural Dog Treat Product of the Year award from the Pet Independent Innovation Awards.
Snif-Snax specializes in limited-ingredient, all-natural dog treats, featuring non-GMO ingredients and high levels of omega-3s.
“Omega oils are an incredible benefit to a dog’s skin, heart, and overall health. Snif-Snax is an excellent source of vital protein, minerals, as well as omega-3, so you can be sure your pets are getting the best of the best,” Independent Innovation Awards Managing Director Travis Grant said in a release.
Snif-Snax Founder and CEO Jonathan Brown founded Snif-Snax in 2016 after working in the salmon industry for over 35 years. He said he was inspired to create the salmon-based pet product by his daughter, Hannah's work at a local human society shelter.
“By developing our closed-loop products for dogs, we’re combining my passion for quality salmon and her love for animals,” Brown said.
To ensure quality and control over its supply chain, the company operates a processing facility in Maryport, a small coastal town in northwestern England near the farms from which its sources its salmon. Snif-Snax's salmon products are Best Aquaculture Practices- and Aquaculture Stewardship Council-certified.
“We’re grateful for this recognition from Pet Innovation and honored to accept this award,” Snif-Snax Founder and CEO Jonathan Brown said in a release. “Our fish is grown without antibiotics and to such high standards that it qualifies for human consumption. The way we see it, if it’s not good enough for us, it’s not good enough for our pets.”
Besides salmon, Sniff-Snax products contain natural ingredients such as sweet potato, seaweed, apples, rapeseed, rosemary, and blueberries. The company also makes cat treats and has seasonal holiday offerings.
