- East Devonport, Australia-based Petuna Aquaculture announced it has appointed Rocky Boschman as its new managing director, to start mid-2023. Boschman brings an extensive background in salmon farming, working with various seafood companies across Canada, Petuna said in a press release.
“Rocky’s values and ethics align strongly with Petuna’s and a focus on people and collaboration rank high in his leadership style. We are pleased to be welcoming him to the Petuna team,” Petuna CEO Doug Paulin said.
- Founder and former CEO of The Kingfish Company Ohad Maiman has joined the AI solution provider ReelData’s board of directors.
"Having experienced firsthand the capabilities and challenges of building and operating a large scale land based operation, I am convinced that while the ability to grow fish to market size on land has been proven, significant room for improvements in operational excellence and efficiencies remains and ReelData Al is at the forefront of developing these capabilities,” Maiman said on LinkedIn.
- On 13 April, Hartwig Schafer was appointed to the Board of Trustees for the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) upon the retirement of Werner Kiene. Schafer will begin his role in July 2023.
“I am delighted to serve as the Chair of MSC’s Board of Trustees given the organisation’s important mission and the program’s indispensable contribution to healthy and sustainable oceans,” Schafer said in a press release. “I am pleased to be appointed at such a vital stage of the MSC’s development and I will harness my experience with mission-driven organisations to help the MSC realise its vision of seafood supplies safeguarded for future generations. I look forward to working with the MSC’s Board, management, staff, governance bodies, partners, and all stakeholders over the coming years.”
Also joining the MSC Board of Trustees in 2023, are new members Mikel Durham, Darian McBain, Edward Njoroge, and Sergio Espejo Yaksic.
Birgit Cameron was also selected to join the board in 2024.
- Buffalo, New York U.S.A.-based Rich Products announced on 13 April four of its leadership staff have become new additions to food industry boards, the company said in a press release.
Rich Senior Vice President, Global Supply Chain, Planning and Logistics Mary Kiener was appointed to the Women's Foodservice Forum Board of Directors. Kiener, who has 30 years with Rich Products, will work to champion women in the global supply chain.
Senior Vice President of Rich Products Lauren Lopez joined the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association board, to help advance the "food-away-from-home industry."
Marie-Claude Laprade, vice president for strategy and customer marketing, joined the Niagra University Food Marketing Center for Excellence to "further the goals of the center," the company said.

- The International Pole and Line Foundation (IPNLF), a charity to support sustainable pole-and-line tuna fisheries, announced Mohamed Rasheed has joined the Board of Trustees. Rasheed is the Deputy Managing Director of Silver Sands Pvt. Ltd., a Maldives-based tourism company.
“I believe that good governance in business is crucial and am committed to contributing to the ongoing work of IPNLF, supporting and promoting one-by-one tuna fisheries, which are essential for the protection of the fisheries industry in general and coastal states such as the Maldives,” Rasheed said in a press release.
- Ron Risher joined Grobest Seafood Global as its newest Co-President in April 2023. Risher spent almost three years at OBI Seafoods Inc. and 18 years at Icicle Seafoods Inc. as its International Sales Manager prior to that, according to his LinkedIn.
