Several U.S. retailers and restaurants are touting seafood specials ahead of Super Bowl LV on 7 February.
FultonFishMarket.com is featuring Kvaroy Arctic’s Homegating kit, created by Kvaroy and TV personality and chef Andrew Zimmern.
Zimmern developed four original topping recipes for the game-day kits designed to pair with Kvarøy Arctic’s salmon burgers and salmon dogs.
Each build-your-own box includes a choice of at least two Kvarøy Arctic burgers and dogs, as well as a complimentary jar of Badia Mediterranean Magic spice mix, a reusable silicone Stasher bag, and recipe cards for the toppings.
The four toppings include Salmon Burger with Roasted Tomatoes, Grilled Onions, and Citrus Herb Butter; Salmon Hot Dog with Lemon Puree, Cucumber, Caviar, and Crispy Shallots; Salmon Hot Dog with Red Cabbage, Bacon, Chives, and Spicy Tartar sauce; and Salmon Burger with Scallion Cream Cheese, Cucumber, Red Onion, Capers, and Everything Bagel Spice. The Homegating kit can be topped off with a variety of items from Fulton Fish Market, including wild salmon roe.
Kvaroy and Zimmern are also holding a live Instagram event on 4 February at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time. Zimmern will demonstrate how to make each of the recipes in the box with tips for how to perfectly cook the Kvarøy Arctic burgers and dogs, Kvaroy said in a press release.
Some restaurants are offering seafood specials for Super Bowl as well. TGI Fridays is offering 25 percent off Family Meal Bundles, such as its Fried Chicken and Shrimp Bundle, along with platters for online and to-go orders.
Restaurant operators should feature shrimp served in multiple ways for the big game, Sysco Culinary Development Senior Director told SeafoodSource.
“Popular items with customers include shrimp that is boiled, fried or wrapped in bacon. Shrimp scampi, buffalo shrimp, and gumbo with shrimp are great options, too,” Doherty said.
For takeout and delivery orders, shrimp is “highly versatile” and travels well, along with poke bowls, sushi, ceviche, seafood dips, crab cakes, seafood fried rice, lobster, shrimp rolls, soups, and chowders, Doherty said.
