- Australis Aquaculture hired Jason Paine from MultiX as its new president effective 1 March, 2023, the company announced. Paine left MultiX last month, and will work on expanding the North American market for Australis. Greenfield, Massachusetts, U.S.A.-based Australis Aquaculture raises Fair Trade-certified barramundi in ocean-based farms Vietnam.
- As of 31 January, Frank Fay has retired from his position as CEO of Dickie’s Seafood, and has been replaced by Stephen LaPointe. Fay led the Richmond, Virginia, U.S.A.-based company since 2019, and rebuilt the company after a fire in 2020. "I am grateful to have spent so many years in the seafood industry and to have been a part of Dickie’s Seafood’s legendary story. Rebuilding from the ashes after the fire was the most-difficult challenge of my career but the fact that we retained the majority of our staff and were able to build one of the most high-tech facilities in the world is truly the highlight of my story,” Fay said. “I am stepping away now that phase one of the new Dickie’s Seafood is complete, and I am leaving the company in a very good place and in the hands of an incredible team.”
- Phil Nickells, one of U.K.-based Hilton Foods’ top purchasing executives, has left the company. Nickells had been with Hilton since 2020 as its head of procurement. He posted news of his departure on his LinkedIn page, and said he is seeking new opportunities in the food industry.
- WorldFish and CGIAR have appointed Essam Yassin Mohammed as director general of WorldFish and CGIAR senior director of aquatic foods, Mohammed said on his LinkedIn page. “I am excited to share with my network that I have been appointed as the new Director General of WorldFish Center and Senior Director of Aquatic Food Systems of the CGIAR - a global organization committed to improving the livelihoods and food security of millions of people around the world through the development of sustainable aquatic food systems."
- Jamie Dwyer, formerly vice president of national accounts Chicken of the Sea Frozen Foods (COSFF), has been named the chief commercial officer of New Bedford, Massachusetts, U.S.A.-based scallop specialist Northern Wind.
