As sushi grows more popular around the world and the United States, demand for AUTEC’s commercial robotic sushi machines are on the rise among restaurants, educational institutes, and upscale grocers, according to the food technology developer.
The sushi robots produced by AUTEC automate elements of the sushi making process, with one model capable of producing 1,400 rice sheets per hour. The machines “allow purveyors to maintain high levels of quality and consistency expected of this typically handcrafted cuisine – at much higher production levels,” AUTEC said.
The firm highlighted the sushi sector as ripe for technological advances after AUTEC’s parent company, Audio-Technica, which originally produced audio technology products such as phonograph needles, pivoted away from music following that industry’s increased digitization.
“Technology has always been the focus for AUTEC, but our Sushi Robots represent something bigger, because you’re not just buying a machine, you’re stepping into the future of sushi,” said Taka Tanaka, president and CEO of AUTEC, in a press release.
AUTEC, which recently partnered with public relations firm The S3 Agency, will increase marketing of the robots in the coming months.
“We want to make sure people know about the opportunities AUTEC Sushi Robots bring – and, with their proven expertise in both the food and business sectors, we know The S3 Agency is the right partner to help make that happen,” Tanaka said.
